Coach gets probation on molestation charge

A chess coach accused of molesting a boy pleaded to criminal charges and was sentenced to 10 years of probation.

Eleazar Poblete, 28, of Tampa had been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation, a felony punishable by life in prison. The victim’s mother told a judge the abuse took place earlier this year in the family’s home in Land O’Lakes and that since his arrest, Poblete had been watching her son, now 9, play chess online.

Poblete pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of lewd and lascivious battery and was ordered to have no contact with the victim or any children. He was given a curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and required to register as a sex offender.
