DUSTIN Comicho bested other young entries to top the Central Guisad Barangay Fiesta Chess tournament at the close of the year.

Comicho topped the kiddies competition for boys and girls ages 12 years old and below as part of the village’s foundation celebration in cooperation with the newly organized Kordilyera Regional Chess Association under president Nicasio Aliping.

Kenneth Alacyang came in at second while Rey Gayasen and Mark Pekeng were tied at third which saw them bringing home cash prices including chess sets.

In the adult division, KRCA vice president Roger Garcia whipped other participants to win the championship in the division which saw some 30 participants in the tournament.

Jospeh Kitma placed second in the adult division while P. Burgos Punong Barangay Bony Bustos placed third. They brought home cash prices and chess sets.

With the newly organized region’s chess organization, several tournaments are being eyed this month, according to Garcia in an earlier interview.

Slated in the calendar this month is the Christian School Sports Competition for elementary will be played sometime January while another competition will also be staged in Barangay P. Burgos come February.

Garcia said they are also eyeing a possible partnership with the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council to sponsor some of their tournaments being planned for this year.
