WITH the re-organization of the Kordilyera Regional Chess Association, several tournaments are being eyed next year to find the next chess wiz in this part of the country.

Sitting as president for the newly organized chess group is incumbent Councilor Nicasio Aliping while incumbent vice president Rogelio Garcia will once again return to the club. Elected treasurer was Roland Guanzon with Joseph Kitma III sitting as his assistant.

Serving as secretary for the group is Pastor Felicisimo Bestidas, while the business managers are Guisad village chief Ferdie Bayasen and P. Burgos village chief Bonnier Bustos.

Rafael Kimmayong was also elected as auditor, while Raymond Passi and Lorenzo Balangui are the sergeant-at-arms. Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas inducted the officers recently.

Former president Henry Aliten will be one of the four advisers, which will also include former La Trinidad mayor Artemio Galwan, City Councilor Richard Cariño, and former governor Rocky Molintas.

As an opening salvo, the regional chess organization will spearhead a kiddie chess tournament to be slated in Barangay Guisad as part of the barangay’s annual fiesta. It is open to children ages 12 years old and below.

Garcia on the other hand added several tournaments slated for January next year while another competition will also be staged in Barangay P. Burgos come February. (Roderick Osis)
