THE organizers moved the Fide-rated 2011 Rose Pharmacy Chess King competition to Feb. 8 to 12, three weeks after its original schedule.
The venue will be announced later.
Cebu Executive and Professional Chess Association (Cepca) president Manny Manzanares told Sun.Star that the NM Bombi Aznar Memorial Chess competition, which their club will also organize, was moved to Feb. 23.
Both events are scheduled to be participated by top Cebuano players and players from neighboring cities and provinces.
Cebu’s top player IM Kim Steven Yap and NM Merben Roque are expected to play in the two competitions to encourage young players to follow in their footsteps.
“There will be more titled players who will be coming because it will be a Fide-rated competition and the other one is in honor of the late Bombi Aznar, who was the no.1 supporter and benefactor of chess in Cebu,†Manzanares said.
